Summer Camp is getting some badly needed “me” time, unplugging from the distractions and things that get your kids down, and connecting with God, His love, and all that he wants kids to be and do in life.

Making Friends!
Lonely and addicted to screen time: Did you know that the average American spends over 70 hours a week in front of some type of digital screen! So many people are addicted to their phones they don’t even want to look up to walk across a busy intersection! That is why a new product was recently developed that uses lighting in sidewalk, so pedestrians can know if it’s safe to cross the street without ever looking up! (Crazy, but true!)
We may now live in the most lonely, relationally isolated culture in the world. It seems like everyone is connected, but in reality, young people do not know what real connection is or what real friendship is.
Depressed: The rate of depression has doubled with every generation since World War II, and the rate of depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues has skyrocketed among young Americans. One of the primary causes of this is relational isolation and the lack of real friendships. We seem to be surrounded by people but at the same time known by few.
Friends can be a powerful influence in the lives of young people!
Even Jesus, Himself, told his closest followers, “I no longer call you servants, but now I call you friends.”
At Otyokwah, fostering real and significant friendship is one of the reasons we exist! Kids need to have a break from all the mindless distractions and content of the “virtual” world, and they need a break from the superficial, and many times, hurtful world of cliques in their schools.
At Otyokwah, everyone “unplugs” for their time at camp, talking, laughing, playing, and worshipping together, and because of this healthy, heartfelt experience, many campers make great new friendships.
We believe every young person needs good, positive, friendships, and we want every camper to make new friends and deepen the friendships they already have!

Woah! Isn't that awesome? We love the line that Zach, one of the campers who loved Camp Otyokwah says,
“There’s no place like it!”
And that says it all. From Zip Lining, to High Ropes, to Blobbing, to Whitewater Rafting, Camp Otyokwah is filled with fun and adventure. There’s something for everybody, so every camper has a blast!
